I feel the final words of my poster in the corner really show my stance on media posts. However, I still believe it is not clear enough about what issue I am arguing for. I chose to use black and white colors because I think black represents the dark and bad sides of media, while white represents the light and truthful side of media. I tried to make the font like a newspaper font to represent news titles and other subtitles.

My thumbnail sketches really gave me many ideas but apparently they did not show my stance well. The sketches gave me ideas and really helped me think of headlines and how to get the viewer's attention. My final poster turned out to be really different from my thumbnail sketches because I had a hard time remaking my thumbnail sketches on Illustrator. But, I am still happy with my final poster.

In the first version, I had two floating heads and Ms. Lee gave me advice to put them into a shape like some kind of profile picture type of thing. After making that change, the two heads did not look too out of place and random. Also in my first version, I could not decide on a background and split the page into two random colors. After going with the classic black and white backgrounds, I felt my poster looked neater.

If I had to choose one, I would choose the Skill and Techniques column on the rubric as my strongest. I used a variety of techniques like Envelope Distort, Pen Tool, Gradient, etc. But I still think I could have added more techniques to make my poster look more interesting and eye-catching. I would say both my Concept and Design are on the weaker side but I would choose Concept as my weakest because my stance may not be too clear to others and the whole poster may seem confusing.

Thinking of a way to appeal to viewers really made the poster project challenging. The poster had to express a message quickly and concisely. If the poster was too boring, then no one would look at the poster and notice the issue. Also if the stance was not expressed clearly, then viewers would have a hard time understanding the poster.

The techniques were not too difficult but I think finding the right tool to use took more time. My poster was simple and did not require too many techniques and so I used a few of the same tools a few times.

My Stance

This post is based off of my opinions. This world is full of people  who have a lot of time on their hands and spend it on the internet.  They publish articles or share posts reflecting their opinions. With  so many different people and different minds around the world,  there will be disagreements.

My news feed is always filled with articles on the latest gossip of  Korean idols, actors/actresses, etc. One caught my eye the most  because it was about a girl group member. SeoHyun, a member of  Girls' Generation, my all-time favorite group, was a recent target of  lame netizens. In this article (http://www.koreaboo.com/  netizens/netizens-discuss-the-most-mature-and-innocent-  idol/), netizens claim she should be involved in some scandals.  Since debut, SeoHyun was known to be an innocent young  lady. While other members may have made appearances in  scandalous articles, she has yet to be in one. Netizens find  opportunities to bash others and they won't let an innocent lady  pass. Who cares if she has not been in a scandal? Scandals are for  attention-seekers. Appearing in scandals will damage the member's  or group's popularity. It is a good thing she has not been in one.  Who cares if she has not dated before? SeoHyun is a grown woman,  she will date whenever she wants to and feels the time is right. She  is old enough to make her own decisions and netizens should not  be telling her to do what they want. Maybe she has dated but was  clever enough to not let anyone find out. I am simply disagreeing  with what netizens do by stating my own opinions. It frustrates me  when the claims made by netizens are not even reasonable.

Another article I saw was of someone I had adored very much since  his debut. Kris Wu, also known as Wu Yi Fan, was a former member  of a Chinese-South Korean boy group, EXO. Since his debut, I knew  he was a very charismatic and talented man. After leaving EXO, he  had his own schedules. A recent one was walking the runway "at  Kensington Gardens in London for 'Burberry's 2016 Men's  Collection"(allkpop.com). In this article (http://www.allkpop.com/  article/2016/01/burberry-ceo-christopher-bailey-praises-kris-wu-yi-  fan) found on allkpop.com, Kris was praised by Burberry's CEO,  Christopher Bailey, for his perfect performance. Not only do I agree  with Burberry's CEO, I also agree with the author of the article. The  author acknowledges Kris' success which I feel is a great thing. I am  happy for Kris because he is so successful.

Self Symbol GIF

The concept of this GIF is having lyrics to my favorite song coming  out of headphones. The GIF expresses my love for music. Since I  have a big obsession for K-Pop, I decided to show that through this  GIF. At first only the lyrics were moving but then I decided to have  the mouth sing along. The lip movements correspond to each of the  lyrics. There is additional movement and that also shows that I sing  along to my favorite song.

Photoshop had only made my idea more lively. My thumbnail and  post-it note sketches were too plain because there was no actual  movement. Through Photoshop, I could see the change in  movement while working on the GIF.

Aj da Rush - Portrait Transformation Project

My goal was to incorporate my friends into a game I really like  playing. A friend of mine is a runner and so I thought it was a  wonderful idea to use her in this project. I tried aiming for a more  silly concept, which explains why there is a face on a sun in the  corner and the three heads with the cars.

I am really happy with the results because it looks really silly.  However, I think I might have put too many people or heads into  the picture. Everything looks kind of crammed together. But my  friends are all beautiful so it doesn't matter ^.^

Using tools and making image adjustments was very important. As  you can see, the photo of my friend in a running pose was darker  than the other photos. First I used the Curves to make the photo  brighter in the darker spots. That made it easier for me to use the  Quick Selection Tool to select only my friend and then copy her  onto the Minion Rush background. Curves helped even out the  lighting of the different pictures I used in the project so one head  is not brighter or darker than the others.

My First Graphic Design Project - Letter Project

 1. On the left is a picture of my thumbnail sketches, or my ideas. I  ended up choosing one suggested by a classmate and one I felt  would represent my interests. The thumbnail sketches did not help  me much because I had already had the two ideas I drafted in mind.  I really liked the draft with the Korean flag and so I chose that idea  as my final. K was my assigned letter and K represented my  interests in South Korean culture, pop, and more.

 2. To represent my passion for Korean culture, inside the K I drew  the South Korean flag into it and the Korean words on the side of  the K mean Republic of Korea. On the side of the K is a chibi  version of my role model and favorite idol. She is the leader of the  girl group, Girls' Generation. I chose that certain chibi because she  was wearing a hanbok, traditional clothing of Koreans.

 3. The overall project did not challenge me. The only part I spent a  lot of time on was the flag part. I needed the lines at the top of the  flag to align with the lines on the bottom. Having the lines in a  similar angle also took a lot of time. That part was challenging  because in order to fit the flag into the K without making it look  weird, I needed the stretch the flag vertically.

 4. I am satisfied with my project. I liked how it represented my  interests in a simple way. I felt if anyone were to look at my  project, they would be able to have an overall idea of my concept.

 5. As I am satisfied with my project, there would not be anything I  want to change. If I were to choose something to add though, I  would somehow include something to show more of my interest in  K-pop.
